Baylis Brothers have been welldrilling since 1946. We have been involved with nearly every type of drilling throughout New Zealand and here in Hawke's Bay - from geological investigation to test drilling. Our work has taken us to Marsden Point, Bluff and the Pacific Islands amongst other locations, along with several trips to the USA to purchase new gear.
We are proud to have had a long and close associaton with the farming and rural community. Our third generation of drillers are now working for a third generation of farmers.
Our reputation for service and workmanship cannot be beaten.
When you require drilling services, employ a contractor you can trust. Baylis Brothers work extremely well in a team environment and can handle projects of all sizes.
Our experienced drilling team work safely, are fully certified and are dedicated to excellence.
Due to our years of experience we have been able to build an extensive database of geological information which is used to predict likely depths, yields and costs of proposed bores.
On the 24th February 1946 Baylis Brothers was formed by brothers Richard and Frank Baylis. In 1954 Richard bought out Frank and continued the business on his own. Frank continued his drilling career at Wairakei. Richard's son Russell took over the company when sadly Richard passed away in 1994 and Russell continues to run the company.
In the early 1970's, Richard and a few others in the drilling industry saw the need for a collective to be set up in New Zealand and so evolved the New Zealand Drillers Federation. The first ever New Zealand Drillers Federation convention was held at Baylis Brothers Greenmeadows yard in 1975.
The company moved from Greenmeadows to a rural block on Puketitiri Road in 1996, where there is a modern workshop and facilities.
